#RookieOfAtlanta Interview w/ @KingDeUno

Kortny De1 is one of the many talented artists on the DOPE label. His project New Life l We were able to sit down and do a quick interview this is what happened. Meet Kortny De1: 

1. Where are you from?

 - Arkansas raised in Atlanta.

2. When did you fall in love with rap?

- I kinda started with all music. It was really just with instruments at first. I used to play in the church band with the drums/trumpet,my mom was the choir program director. My dad was the top DJ in that area. Moved from there to Atlanta. My mom didn't just play rap in the house. I started playing rap after my grandma died.I started listening to Wayne when I moved to Fulton county in these three years I've grown.

3. Did anyone else in your family do music?

- Both my parents did.

4. Who supports your career in music?

- Everybody that I know. My friends DOPE. And if they don't they will.

5. What made you buckle down and take music serious?

- I took it serious in high school when I saw the skills I had that made me decide what I wanted to do. 

6. What was the first song you wrote?

- Success.

7. Why name your project "New Life?

- Its about growth. Where I see myself in life

8. Do you freestyle or do you write your lyrics?

- Totally write my lyrics.

9. Where did you get your name from?

- My name is Kortny. D1.

10. How does DOPE support you?

- Everyway. They support me mentally x business wise we all strive for the same thing.

11. Are you ready for the next step in your career?

- Yeah I am.

12. How long does it take you to record?

- Depends on the song depending on if I'm feeling it or not.

13. What do you want your legacy to be?

- Once i leave this earth I want to be know as something bigger. I want to have franchises x real estate. I just want to be great.

14. Has someone ever killed you on your own song and you had to comeback to fix your verse?

- No,that hasn't been an issue.

15. Would you do a collab tape with anyone

- Yes with Lil Wayne x Drake x Andre 3000 x Adele x Ericah Badu x Justin Beiber x Justin -Timberlake x Jill Scott x Sade x Lauren Hill x Janet Jackson x T.I x Jeezy x Monica x Kanye West x Big Sean.

16. Which is more important a street presence or an internet presence? Or both?

- Both. You have to be able to do everything nowadays.

17. Is what your doing now going to benefit you 10 years from now?

- Hell yeah.

18. What experiences in life have made you who you are today?

- My grandma passing it made me look for a release I wasn't an angry person but I didn't believe in death at that time. I knew it happened I just didn't think about it.

19. When everything is said and done what do you want GOD to say to you? 

 - You did good.

20. What skills/personal attributes are most important to being successful?

  - The hustle it doesn't matter what your doing the hustle is it.

21. How important is family to you?

- Most important.
