#RookieOfAtlanta Interview w/ @EliYabee
Late last year I had the privilege of doing an interview with Corleone Lifestyle artist Eli Yabee. We sat down and talked for over a hour about music,my site and what he had planned, this is the result of that.
1. Where are you from?
- Westside Collier Hights Area
2. When did you fall in love with rap?
- In 2003. The 50 Cent Era of rap.
3. How did you start rapping?
- I just liked the flow of it. I would start writing to the beats on the radio. In the 4th grade. Ludacris was on the radio then.
4. Who supports your career in music?
- Mostly my hood, my whole movement Corleone lifestyle.
5. What made you buckle down and take music serious?
- I was in the 12th grade and we had to record something on Garage Band. That's how I knew to record myself.
6. What movie describes your music and life?
- 7 Pounds.
7. What was the first rap song you ever heard?
- It was either a Bow Wow song or Back That Azz Up. It probably was Bow Wow.
8. What was the first song you wrote?
- A song called "Taggin" in the 6th Grade over someone else's beat.
9. What type of beats of do you like to rap over?
- Serious Beats or a monotone beat.
10. What type of artist are you?
- I freestyle my hooks and write my hooks. I freestyle for my ideas sometimes I will begin freestyling then I will find my flow.
11. Where did you get your name from?
- My last name is Yarbough so I just shorted it.
12. What producers fit your sound?
- LondonOnTheTrack, KeyWayne, 40, PlainPat,
13. What is Corleone Lifestyle?
- Corleone is the lifestyle. We live like the mob. It's a lifestyle.
14. Are you ready for the next step in your career?
- Yes I am. It's taking a minute but I'm patient.
15. How long does it take you to record?
- 45 minutes to an a hour one song.
16. What do you want your legacy to be?
- A honest one. People can see my raps and hear it.
17. Has someone ever killed you on your own song and you had to comeback to fix your verse?
- I don't think about that. No one can out do you.
18. How long did you work on your project?
- A year and a half. On and off though.
19. Which is more important a street presence or an internet presence? Or both?
- A street presence. I've seen people out at a show who has a internet presence and no one will be there. With an street presence people know it.
20. Is what your doing now going to benefit you 10 years from now?
- Of course.
21. What experiences in life have made you who you are today?
- I joined the National Guard when I was 17 and I was gone for a year or taught me a lot. You can't give up on your passion its yours.
22. When everything is said and done what do you want GOD to say to you?
- You made use of your lifetime and welcome home.
23. What skills/personal attributes are most important to being successful?
- Perseverance and drive.
