#Review: Take Me Serious, I'm Not Playing - @iSwaVay
Review: "Take Me Serious, I'm Not Playing" -SwaVay
Indirectly met him at Wheeler, been watching his career since his freshman year. I wasn't a fan of his lyrics at first. To be bias, the first verse of his I liked was on Crusader. One thing i've always liked about him is ability to master a concept.
For instance with "take me serious, i'm not playing" which is openly influenced by Earl's "i don't like shit, i don't go outside". "I Don't Wanna Rap No More" is the opening track and gives this project a remorseful tone. If this was his last song, it would be highly disappointing. The lyrics are ehhhh Andre. The "Faucet" instrumental is perfect to sound political on. SwaVay sounds militant on a beat that sounds like soldiers marching to their last battle. At first I was only going to review the last three tracks. "Something" is a great song. Bright Dilla production, smooth speedy flow, and I have no complaints. "A wise man once told me meet, skeet, and then delete her". A PLUGS ANTHEM is my favorite song in his discography. It sounds exactly like H.O.C by Kendrick but from the seller's perspective. The beginning of Next Lifetime sounds cool, and the underlying vocals on the hook add depth. This project was very eye opening; it has me believing Traplanta is worth the wait.
