#FreshmenOfAtlanta Interview w/ @Iamuchen
1. Where are you from?
• I am from a neighborhood called Summerhill located in Atlanta, Georgia.
2. When did you fall in love with hip hop?
• I fell in love with Hip Hop at the age of three, as a child I use to recite Kriss Kross rap songs around my mother’s apartment.
3. Why do you rap?
• To empower my generation and the ones after me to think creative, be innovative, and never loose your culture, by compromising.
4. Your rap name is highly interesting, how did you think of it?
• I decided to name myself Uchenna (oo CHEEN –nah) in the 10th grade, its origin is from Nigeria, the definition of Uchenna is God’s will.
5. Describe your musical style.
• I view my musical style as creative and southern.
6. What was the first song you knew from start to finish?
• The first song I knew from start to finish was Juvenile ft Lil Wayne “G-Code”.
7.What do you want your legacy to be?
• I would like my legacy to leave a global impact with positive influence. I want to be talked about in schools, colleges, barbershops etc.
8. How did you meet Amilo Salamander?
• Amilo Salamander, Lol!!! thats my blood brother.
9. When will you drop a mixtape?
• My new project will be release next month (We are not Saints), but you can download my latest, online at Livemixtapes.com (Rebel Forest)
10. How long does it take you to record?
• Its depends on the song for features I normally write in the studio, my own songs I usually record over and over until I feel it’s the best I can do for that particular song.
11. Where do you think you fit in Atlanta hip hop?
• I think I fit, lol nowhere really the culture in Atlanta hip-hop, today is one-sided, but I view it as a good thing, for me, I have no completion.
12. If your crew was a group of superheroes what team would it be?
• Camelot: Golden Sun characters.
13. What do you want people to get from your music?
• I regards to an inspiring artist, create beautiful cohesive masterpieces of music that the listener can buy for forever. To the fans I would like them to view my music as a breath of fresh air.
14. What is JusFly?
• Jus Fly is a Urban streetwear clothing my brothers and I established in 2008.
15. Your also heavily into fashion, how did that happen?
• It happen very organically along with creating the urban line Jus Fly, inspired from my brothers backpack, I begin to study classic fashion, by reading Vogue, Harpers Bazaar, Elle etc. In other words my mother told me, if you want to take fashion to the next level here is where you start.
16. What Atlanta fashion lines do you like?
• I think I would go with Chilly-O even though is not out anymore, when you talking about Atlanta fashion, its only urban brands here.
17. How does what your doing now shape your next 10 years?
• What I’m doing will shape the next 10 years of my life through, preparation, being patient for my vision to become a reality, making wise decisions.
18. If you had to listen to one mixtape for the rest of your life what would it be?
• If I had to listen to a mixtape for the rest of my life, well album it would be Outkast- Stankonia
19. What has been your favorite song to record?
• My favorite song I have recorded was this song called “Simplicity” because it was the 1st song I have ever wrote talking about a woman only.
20. What experiences in life have made you who you are today?
• My experiences in life have been, raised in single parent home, learning how to be a man at a young age, learning how to cope with being in a broken family developed indecency for my youngest brother and I to not make excuses but find a solution and work hard in whatever you dream for.
21. When everything is said and done what do you want GOD to say to you?
• Hopefully God will say job well done my young and faithful servant.
22. Who are you?
• I am Uchenna aka Decarlo Tatum jr, who is a rapper/fashion designer.
