Rookies Of Atlanta Interview w/ @MellowMisfit Deja Vu

For this installment of our "Rookies Of Atlanta" interviews,we got a chance to interview to rising female rapper "Deja Vu" whose mix tape "Scattered Clouds" is out now.
1. Where are you from?
 - I was born in Syracuse, New York, but been in Atlanta most of my life.
2. How did you know rapping was for you?

 -  don't know, like I guess when I started getting a lot of positive feedback, that let me know that I just might be good enough to rap "full-time" and maybe I can be one of the best to ever do it.
3. What was the first rap song you heard?

 - Hmmm, one of the first rap songs I heard was probably "Crush On You" by Lil Kim. That was my song when I was a little one. I still know all the words.
4. Is it hard being a female rapper?

 - Yeah I guess you can say that, a lot of people underestimate me and expect me to sound a certain way, until I actually rap for them. Another hard thing about being a female rapper is the whole aspect of "sex sells." That's one of the main reasons why I probably won't sign with a major label because they'll try to change my image, and I don't want that. This is me.
5.How would describe your sound?

 - My sound is really chill and laid-back, it matches my personality, but I can still go in. You can tell by most of the tracks on my tracks on Scattered Clouds.
6.Do people underestimated you?

 -  Yes! All the time! It's annoying only because they only underestimate me because I'm a female & nowadays everyone is a rapper. However, I've still managed to make myself stand out because..I'm different. Don't sleep on me!
7. where did you get your rap name Deja Vu from?

 - Well my name is Deja so it kinda came from that, but actually my best friend Jonny gave me the name DejaVu. I had several rap names before (too lame to mention), but none of them really stuck with me. So one day I asked Jonny what my rap name should be and he was like, "How about DejaVu?" The name doesn't define me, but I like it because it's a contradiction of the actual meaning of deja vu - I feel that I'm unique and no one has really experienced anything like me.
8. How old were you when you really started rapping?

 -  I first started rapping at the age of 6. At first I was just playing around with it and freestyling or writing whatever came to mind, but I started taking it seriously around middle school. I bought this notebook, and I just filled it up with songs and random metaphors that popped up in my head. I recorded my first song in 7th grade, it sounded horrible, but I let my friends listen and they actually liked it so I kept working my way up.
9. Your mixtape "Scattered Clouds" that came out where did you get that name from? And is there going to be another tape?

 - I didn't really put a lot of thought into the name "Scattered Clouds." After I took the picture that I used for the cover and edited it a little I thought maybe I should use this as a mixtape cover, then I got my friend Tiff to fix it up even more. I noticed the clouds in the background of the picture and based the name off of that. I'm working on my 3rd mixtape now, I don't have a title yet, but it'll probably drop in February. It'll be a step up from "Scattered Clouds"
10. Who are you?

 -  I'm just another rapper trying to make it without selling myself short.
11. When everything is said and done what do you want GOD to say to you?

 -  When it's all said and done, I want God to congratulate me for the work I've put in, and all my success.
