For this installment of "Freshmen Of Atlanta interview " series is with 3i rapper Vontae_.

1. Where are you from?

  

-  I'm from AAPE County, Japan ... Land of the creators 

2.What made you start rapping?  

 - Lack of real music in the industry. A lot of real artist out here but the labels strip the art of majority of their creativity once they sign their life away for money!

3. Who do you rap for?  

 - I rap to bring positive vibes & to give people an audio high after a long day but at the end of the day, I want people to see that this 19 y/o dude has talent!

4. Do other artists influence you? 

 - YES! Ab-Soul, Pharrell Williams all around & outside of music, NIGO (Founder of BAPE) & Mikkel, Founder of Norse Projects. Original Fani is a monster & My whole team 3i 

5. What was your first rap name?   

 - I always went along with my name "Vontae". 

6. If you had to listen to one Mixtape for the rest of your life what it be?   

 - Long Term Mentality By Ab-Soul. That tape left me shook in these Atlanta streets haha

7. Who do you respect in the indie Atlanta music scene? ThirdEyeVision, Two9, Will of Thumbs Up, Ethereal, Levi the Jedi, iLaSkywalker. Might as well say everyone as long as they are putting in WORK!

8. How would you describe your sound?

 - Like an Astral Plane ride with tons of weed

9.Do you have any regrets?

 - Naw, "In order to survive, got to learn to live with regrets" - Jay-Z 

10.What does rapping mean to you?

 - Creating from the bottom of the heart & spitting lyrics people can relate to because music plays a big role on a part of our brain that causes us to be influenced 

11. You also skateboard, what made you get into that?

  

 - I don't really skate anymore, too many people do it and i don't want to seem like an ordinary nigga in these streets. 

13.What experiences in life have made you who you are?

 - A car accident on March 20, 2011 that changed my family forever! It made me stronger & made me grind even harder to reach the top. I'm doing all of this for them!

14.What was the first album you bought?

  

- Eazy E - Eazy Duz It back in 2001.

15.Who supports you in this life?

- The whole 3i, family, Randi, iQ, Brainless Club & my few friends

16.Do artists need to have a online influence or a street influence to make it?

- Both is important to get your name out there. I can't really choose between the two 

17.When everything is said and done what do you want GOD to say to you?

- "Vontae, your conscious state of mind spreads positivity & you use the talents i gave you well. I'm proud"
