Up Close & Personal with - L.U.M Records CEO Kyle Caines @KyleC_LUM

I got a chance to do my first ever text message interview with L.U.M Records founder Kyle Caines. He is the man that brought you rapper Yung Gunn.
1.What made you start L.U.M Records?
 - First it was just an idea brought to my attention by an old friend of mine. He was an aspiring rapper in a rap group that (at the time) I was a huge fan of already. I didn't think of it at first, until I looked into. I thought we I love music and I always wanted to start my own business. Why not start? I did my research, spoke to essential people in the industry such as Akon and Quincy Jones (just to name a few), got everything officialzed and Load. Up.Music Records was born.
2.How long have you been interested in music?
-  My Uncle,Benny Demus (Akon's Dj) had me in the studio since I was very young. I was raised around music though out school, I always been involved in either chorus or band. I used to go on tours with Akon to. Music was also my get-a-way drug. Anytime I felt down, the power of music always carried me back to my feet.
3. Are you the only person invested in L.U.M Records?
- Yep. I did everything myself. Of course, I paid people for my logo, web design, etc, but overall I run and pay for my label. Its all me.
4.Are you in school?
 - Yes. I graduated from Langston Hughes High School in 2011. Now I attend a small Liberal Arts college called GA Military College.
5.What do you want your legacy to be?
 - I just want to leave a mark on some persons life. I want people to see that if you put all your faith in something and you work hard enough you can do ANYTHING YOUR HEART DESIRES. Through out sacrifices losses and the negative parts of this industry you must put in your heart that it will all pay off. No matter the race or age you can do it.
6. What experiences made you who are today?
 - Actually EVERYTHING. Every interview, cameo, hosting gig, or any dealing with profession as an entrepreneur/entertainer. Hint the name "Diddy" haha.
7. What all do you do under the L.U.M records name?
 - Basically manage and mold the artist to be greater then they can imagine, we portray their talents EVERYWHERE on a global/mainstream level.
8. How do you see your artists future?
 - I see great things we're a family as a whole. As a family, when one person eats WE ALL EAT. The vision I have for my artist Yung Gunn future is GREAT. Anything is possible with that kid. Sky's the limit for what my SPC family can do for this industry.
9.Who is all on the label?
 - Right now my main focus is moving forward with this SPC project. Yung Gunn and Snuk Cash will have this Summer in a bag.
10. Do you like being in the studio with your artist?
 - Yeah. It's a cool environment some of the things that goes on in the studio WILL STAY in the studio haha.
11.What is the relationship like with your artists?
 - We're like brothers, We know each others families and all. If I was to ever to need they will always ensure that I have and its mutual. We're a true family.
12. What made you throw parties?
- Being young in the game is hard lol. No one took me seriously when it came to booking shows. I was 16 when I started. I was pretty popular in high school, so I figured no one can tell me that I figured that I can't have have them perform if its my event. So I started throwing and packing out parties for exposure for my artists. Plus the money was good. That led me to hosting clubs, parties and different events. Shout out to my big bro Yung Tone who put me under his wing to the party game too. He was also a great influence on me as far as parties and entertainment.
13.What makes you different then all the other people that throw parties?
- Actually nothing. The only difference I can think of is face card. I'm just like everyone else, but due to what I do i'm just a little more popular. With that said , you never know what will happen at a Kyle Caines party. I love to have fun.
14.You call yourself K.Diddy why is that?
- People been calling me young Puffy/Diddy since I started. And it was a compliment that I always enjoyed and felt honored to be called. One of my homies started calling me K.Diddy so I just stuck with it. Lol.
15.What is one thing that you always change about yourself?
. I always slightly change the way I approach a situation. Just to keep things in my craft. The most drastic thing I recently changed was my hair. Now I stand out more then ever. I keep people talking. Whether positive or negative, people have no choice but to bring me name up in conversation.
16.Who are you?
 - I'm Kyle Caines. A young guy with heart filled with faith, ambition, and drive. I have plenty hats such as: manager, entertainer, entrepreneur , a music video director (I directed my first video on Easter). but more importantly i'm a student to the world of entertainment.
17.When everything is said and done and your walking up to the pearly gates  what do you want GOD to say to you?
 - "You've done what you was expected to do, now come on home."
